Grace Jones
Nightclubbing
Nightclubbing is the fifth studio album by Grace Jones, released on May 11, 1981, through Island Records. Widely considered her magnum opus, it cemented her status as a pop icon and a pioneer of the androgynous aesthetic.
The album is a genre-blending fusion of reggae, new wave, post-disco, and funk. It was recorded at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas with the famous Sly & Robbie rhythm section.
The album cover, created by Jean-Paul Goude, features Jones in an androgynous pose with a flattop haircut and an Armani jacket, becoming one of the most recognizable images in music history.
