Kid Creole And The Coconuts

Wise Guy is the third studio album by the American musical group Kid Creole And The Coconuts, released in 1982. It was released in the U.S. and Canada under this title, while in Europe and other markets it was titled Tropical Gangsters.

The album was originally intended as a solo project by the band leader August Darnell (Kid Creole) and was titled Wise Guy. However, his label, ZE Records, convinced him to release it as a Kid Creole And The Coconuts record to increase commercial appeal, which led to it being a major international breakthrough, particularly in the UK where it peaked at number three on the album chart. The album is known for its blend of disco, Latin pop, funk, and big band-inspired styles.
