Dire Straits
Making Movies
Making Movies is the third studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released on October 17, 1980. It is widely considered one of the band's finest works, marked by a shift toward a more cinematic, "radio-friendly" roots-rock sound that defined the group throughout the 1980s.
Produced by: Jimmy Iovine and Mark Knopfler.
Reached #4 in the UK and #19 on the US Billboard 200; it was a massive success in Italy, where it hit #1 and sold over one million copies.
During the recording, Mark Knopfler's brother, David Knopfler, left the band following heated arguments. Keyboards were provided by Roy Bittan of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.
Ranked #52 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Best Albums of the Eighties"
