The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra is a foundational jazz album by American musician Sun Ra and his Arkestra, recorded in a single day on October 10, 1961. It marks a significant transition point in Ra's career, as it was his first recording after moving from Chicago to New York and served as his only release for the Savoy label.

Jazz (specifically blending post-bop with early experimental and exotic percussion elements).

Features a smaller iteration of the Arkestra, including core members John Gilmore (tenor sax) and Marshall Allen (alto sax), along with Ronnie Boykins (bass) and Pat Patrick (bass sax).
