Alice In Chains
Facelift
Facelift, released on August 21, 1990, is the debut studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains. The record blended heavy metal with a brooding, grunge-infused sound, establishing the band's distinctive style and cementing its status as a pivotal album in the Seattle music scene.
The album's title was inspired by its cover art, a distorted photo of bassist Mike Starr taken by photographer Rocky Schenck.
The album was recorded at London Bridge Studio in Seattle and Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Drummer Sean Kinney played with a broken hand during the recording sessions.
