Blur
The Magic Whip
The Magic Whip is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Blur, released on April 27, 2015. It was their first album in 12 years and the first with the full original lineup—including guitarist Graham Coxon—since 1999's 13.
The album originated from an unplanned, five-day recording session in Hong Kong in 2013, following the cancellation of a music festival. After the initial sessions, the recordings were shelved until Coxon and longtime producer Stephen Street revisited and worked on the material in 2014. Frontman Damon Albarn later wrote lyrics for the music, drawing inspiration from his travels in Hong Kong.
