Floodland is the second studio album by the English gothic rock band The Sisters of Mercy, released on November 13, 1987. After the band's previous lineup dissolved in 1985, frontman Andrew Eldritch returned with new bassist Patricia Morrison and their trusty drum machine, Doktor Avalanche, to create a more epic and grandiose sound.
The album's famously large sound was partly due to the involvement of American songwriter and producer Jim Steinman, known for his work with Meat Loaf. The New York Choral Society was also featured on the single "This Corrosion".
