Gillian Welch
Time (The Revelator)
Time (The Revelator) is the landmark third studio album by American singer-songwriter Gillian Welch, released on July 31, 2001, through her own label, Acony Records.
Produced by her long-time musical partner David Rawlings, the album is widely considered a definitive masterpiece of the Americana and alternative country genres.
Recorded primarily at Nashville's historic RCA Studio B, the album features a sparse, "skeletal" sound consisting almost entirely of two acoustic guitars and the duo's close vocal harmonies.
The lyrics blend personal narratives with American myths—touching on the Titanic, Abraham Lincoln, and Elvis Presley—to explore the relentless nature of time.
