Buddhist Hipsters is the eighteenth studio album by the English ambient house duo The Orb, released on October 10, 2025, through Cooking Vinyl.
The project is a collaboration between founding member Alex Paterson and Michael Rendall. Paterson described the inspiration as a dream featuring Buddhists and hipsters descending from the clouds on an escalator, beckoned by pianist Roger Eno.
The album is noted for its return to the "ambient dub" essence of the group's 90s prime while incorporating modern electronic techniques. It features a wide array of guest contributors:
Roger Eno: Provided piano on the track "Khà ron".
Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy (System 7): Featured on the opening track "Spontaneously Combust".
Youth & Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke): Contributed bass and drums to "A Sacred Choice".
Rrome Alone: A North Carolina death row inmate whose vocals for "Arabebonics" were recorded via payphone and enhanced using AI.
Includes Andy Falconer, Trevor Walters, Violetta Vicci, Eric Von Skywalker, and Andy Caine.
