Ice
Disco Frankenstein
This is the 1976 funk and disco-infused album Disco Frankenstein by Ice, a pseudonym for the band the Lafayette Afro Rock Band. The phrase could also be a reference to a character or plot point in Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, specifically relating to the Arctic ice and the monster's story.
A rare 1976 Japan-only compilation of funk and disco tracks that the Lafayette Afro Rock Band recorded under a variety of pseudonyms, including Ice.
The album is noted for its "horror-disco" sound, which features wah-wah guitars, Afrobeat rhythms, and synthesizer effects blended with funk. Tracks on the album include "Dr. Beezar (Soul Frankenstein)," "Disco Vampire," and "Zeke the Zombie".
The record was reissued by Strut Records in 2025 on "blood-stained vinyl" for Halloween.
