Geogaddi is the critically acclaimed second studio album by Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada, known for its darker tone, occult references, and intricate, sample-based electronic music. It was released by Warp Records on February 18, 2002.
The album falls under electronic music, specifically intelligent dance music (IDM), ambient techno, and downtempo, and is associated with the hauntology movement.
It was recorded between 1999 and 2001 at their Hexagon Sun studio in the Pentland Hills. The duo used significant manipulation and processing of both electronic and acoustic instrumentation.
The album explores themes of paranoia, numerology, Wicca, and other esoteric subjects, creating a "claustrophobic, twisting journey" for the listener. It features numerous hidden elements, backmasked vocals, and samples, including snippets from public service announcements, retro TV, and a documentary narrated by Leslie Nielsen.
