Stewart Copeland
Rumble Fish (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Rumble Fish (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is an acclaimed album by Stewart Copeland, best known as the drummer for the rock band The Police. The album was released on November 8, 1983, via A&M Records and marked Copeland's debut as a film composer.
The soundtrack was created for the Francis Ford Coppola film Rumble Fish, released the same year. Coppola, in a "wild decision," chose Copeland for the project because he wanted a rhythmic score and saw Copeland as a "rhythmatist" who had never scored a film before. The album features an experimental rock style and is noted for its unique use of percussion and synthesizers, contributing significantly to the movie's distinctive black-and-white aesthetic.
