1x CD Album

Release date: Jan 1, 1989, US

Spike is the 12th studio album by English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, released on February 6, 1989. It marked a significant transition as his first album for Warner Bros. Records and his first since his 1977 debut, My Aim Is True, to feature no appearance by his longtime backing band, the Attractions.

The album is notable for featuring Costello's first songwriting collaborations with Paul McCartney, most famously on the lead single "Veronica". McCartney also played his iconic Höfner bass on the track.
