Released on March 26, 1985, Southern Accents is the sixth studio album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Initially conceived as a concept album about the American South, the project became a pivotal, if troubled, turning point in Petty's career.
The album reached #7 on the Billboard 200 and produced three singles:
"Don't Come Around Here No More": The lead single (peaking at #13) was co-written by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and is famous for its Alice in Wonderland-themed music video.
