Echo & The Bunnymen
Porcupine
Porcupine is the third studio album by English post-punk band Echo & The Bunnymen, released on February 4, 1983. Despite initial critical pushback, it became the band's highest-charting release, peaking at number two on the UK Albums Chart and earning gold certification.
The album was produced by Ian Broudie (credited as "Kingbird") and features a dark, "metallic" sound characterized by jagged guitars and atmospheric textures. Its creation was marked by internal band turmoil and an initial rejection by their label, leading to a re-recording that incorporated strings by Indian violinist L. Shankar.
