War is the third studio album by the Irish rock band U2, released on February 28, 1983. It is considered the band's first overtly political album, featuring a more rugged sound compared to their previous releases.

The album was a major commercial success, becoming U2's first number-one album in the UK and helping establish them as a globally significant band. It was also ranked 223rd on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2012.
