Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes is a 2014 collaborative album produced by T Bone Burnett, featuring a "supergroup" of musicians who wrote and recorded music for a collection of long-lost lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967.
Release Date: November 11, 2014.
Collaborating Artists: Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), and Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons).
The lyrics were written by Dylan during the legendary Basement Tapes sessions with The Band in West Saugerties, New York, but were never set to music at the time.
Recording: The group convened for two weeks in March 2014 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood to write and record the tracks.
