Blue Öyster Cult
Mirrors
Released on June 19, 1979, Mirrors is the sixth studio album by the American rock band Blue Öyster Cult. It marked a significant shift toward a more polished, radio-friendly sound under producer Tom Werman, departing from the mdarker, cryptic style of their earlier work.
This was the band's first album not produced by long-time manager Sandy Pearlman. Produced by Tom Werman (known for his work with Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent), the album features glossy production intended to achieve high chart success.
While it peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard 200, it failed to reach Gold status, which was seen as a disappointment following the success of their previous platinum and gold records.
The shift toward pop-rock and new wave influences led to a mixed reaction from long-time fans who preferred the band's mantic "occult rock" roots.
